The Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) has selected It’s the Blackness, the feature directorial debut of acclaimed actor Hakeem Kae-Kazim, as the closing film for its 15th edition, taking place in Lagos, Nigeria, from 1–7 November 2026.

The opening and closing selections bring together Olive Nwosu’s Lady and Hakeem Kae-Kazim’s It’s the Blackness, showcasing Black filmmaking across both countries.
Written and produced by Dapo Oshiyemi through Talking Drum Entertainment, It’s the Blackness stars Daniel Davids, Matthew James Morrison, Dolapo Oni, Kalu Ikeagwu and Kierath Jandoo.
Two brilliant graduates discover that even master's degrees can't save them from joblessness, messy love lives, and family drama in a system set up for them to fail.
The film is scheduled for UK release in the fourth quarter of 2026.
