‘Wedding Party 2’ debuts in the UK Top 20 and becomes the highest grossing Nollywood film to date.

Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai hit the top 20 in the UK coming in at number 15 taking £45,812 in its opening week. This Box office take finally broke in one week the record of £39,819 held by Mirror Boy since 2011. The Wedding Party 2 opened on 6 screens and averaged £7,635 only Sony Pictures ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ and 20th Century Fox’s ‘The Greatest Showman’ had higher screen averages.

Dapo Oshiyemi of Talking Drum Entertainment said “we are delighted with the figures and I would like to thank all our Partners and the fans that made this possible. However, we cannot rest on our laurels, African films have tremendous scope for growth in the UK, to put it in perspective Girl’s Trip took £8.9m at the UK Box office making it the highest grossing Black film in the UK in 2017, and the UK Box office record for a Black film is £20m held by 12 Years a Slave, making the UK second only to the United States in market terms for Black films”.
